Casey (Cuong The) Nguyen, Vietnamese American, discovered his calling in hospitality via a circuitous route. Starting off in electrical engineering – Cal Polytech in Ponoma California (1982) – he worked for the Boeing Company for a decade becoming Senior Engineer which brought him to Singapore to train engineers and technicians for prestigious airlines such as Singapore, EVA and Thai. In 1988 Casey completed his MBA at La Verne University in California.
After Boeing in 1992, Casey remained in Singapore where he joined the Equatorial Hotel Group and trained in hospitality management with practical assignments in Singapore, Penang and Kuala Lumpur for Equatorial Hotels. After a few years he was tapped by Equatorial to help setup Equatorial Hotel Group in Vietnam which would also bring him back to his homeland.
For the past 27 years, Casey has developed deep hospitality management expertise in Vietnam covering key areas of operations, HR, project development, and business management having worked for many hotel brands such as Best Western, Grupo Sol, Blooming Hotels & Resorts, as well as a few local brands and hotel development groups such as King Crown, Bamboo Capital and Casa Marina.
Most recently Casey joined YAANA Hospitality and its sister company The Orient and Occident Company to develop its Visama Lodge luxury tented camps in Vietnam where he can put his wealth of hospitality, business and practical management skills to work.
